Are you driving less since gas prices started climbing?
Gas prices have been increasing in recent months. Are you driving less because of it?
JOHAN EPPINGA, Piqua: “I’ve been driving more over the holidays. I think when it hits $3.50, I’d start thinking about driving less.”
JUDY GIPP, Dayton: “Yes. I’m cutting some of the roundabout trips and trips to the mall. Work and home is where I go now.”
JESSICA JOHNSON, Miamisburg Twp.: “No. When it got up to four bucks, you stopped traveling as much and made trips to the store worth it — there were no one-item trips.”
TRACIE RICHARDSON, Waynesville: “No. I have to work. Kids and work — I’ve got to drive.”
KATHY HUIZENGA, Oakwood: “No. I generally don’t drive a lot. My route is close to where I live. It hasn’t affected my travel plans at this time of year.”
MARY DANES, Piqua: “No. It would probably have to get back up to about $4.”

You know it. I’ll walk now anytime I can.

I started bicycle commuting when gas prices spiked in 2008. 3,500 miles later and I haven’t looked back. I even ride in the winter. Bike commuting certainly isn’t for everyone but if you live within 10 miles of work, it’s pretty easy and you’ll feel great. I’ve saved about $500 on gas in a year and a half.

I don’t drive any less, but I don’t like buying gas and wasting it for stupid things, so I try and drive at the bare minimum anyway. If I cut it down anymore I would have to work from home.

Hopefully this Ohio will get stimulus money for passenger trains!
