Both students were discovered by residential community advisors who were conducting welfare checks after the students had not been seen for several days, according to Wright State police incident reports.
Thomas C. Hentrich, 56, was discovered laying in his bathroom floor March 19 in the Village Apartments, a dorm for Wright State adult and married students, on Wednesday, March 19. The Greene County Coroner's office said Fairborn paramedics pronounced him dead at his residence. The coroner's office did not investigate because Hentrich died of natural causes.
Three days later, community advisors found Nathan D. Conner, 20, also dead in his dorm. Police were dispatched to College Park dorms on Zink road shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday and found Conner unresponsive, said Wright State Police Chief Simone Polk.
Conner's death is still under investigation, Polk said, and the Greene County Coroner's office is waiting for the results of toxicology tests before ruling on the cause of death.
Wright State University President David Hopkins notified students of the deaths in an e-mail on Monday, March 24. He said Hentrich had been a Wright State student in the 1970s who returned to work on a master's degree in public history. He was well known in the Village apartment community for his delight in story telling, and that he loved being on campus and wore a vintage Wright State jacket. Newcomer funeral home in Beavercreek is handling Hentrich's funeral, but is not holding any services for him.
Conner was buried Tuesday, March 25 in his hometown, Plain City, southwest of Columbus. Hopkins said Conner was a computer and video game enthusiast who was planning on majoring in engineering.
