Spring at the University of Dayton brings many traditions - Senior Prom and Salute, graduation, Daytona, and for the past decade, Barn Jam.

Eric Suttman's biannual party on the farm kicks off this year on Saturday, April 19. Always jam-packed with music, food and drinks, this year's event shouldn't disappoint.

Extras

Live music on the main stage starts at 7 p.m. with Whiskey Rhythms, an original rock jam band, followed by The Werks at 11 p.m. On stage two starting at 9:30 p.m. will be The Back Porch Jam, Mike Shultz & Friends, Riding Shotgun, and Jersey Joe and the Barn Jam AllStar Band.

"Barn Jam is one of the best and most unique musical experiences UD has to offer," said Back Porch Jam band member and UD student Julie Roth. This will be her fourth time performing at the concert.

Barn Jam is held every September and April to kick-off and end the UD school year with a good time. UD professor Eric Suttman and wife Meg have sponsored the event each year on their five-acre farm located about 13 minutes southwest of UD's campus.

"It's a party and a fund-raiser," Suttman said. "It started ten years ago as a party at my house for some UD students. We usually have between 100 and 300 kids. A year ago it got close to 500, which was too many people. It's a very calm, good group of kids that are out there."

Barn Jam is a BYOB - and tent - event with camping encouraged. It's $10 to enter, with all the money benefiting UD's Appalachia Club. The Suttman's provide the music, hot dogs, s'mores and atmosphere.

"Eric and Meg Suttman do a great job of creating an atmosphere that maintains the UD culture, while making the farm feel right at home," Roth said. "I couldn't be happier to be a part of the event. I'm looking forward to sharing the night with other great artists, returning students, and new attendees."
