Area bands will rock for RAINN
Friday, May 16, 2008
On Sunday, May 18, the Gem City Saints, Switchblade Serenade, Accidently on Purpose, Grizzzzy Bear and other local bands will take the stage at Club Masque for Rock for RAINN. The event, organized by Ray Whitsel of the Gem City Saints, will benefit RAINN: The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network.
"I got the idea back in November," Whitsel said. "I wanted to reach out to a charity that helps people with problems that are not always talked about and that are a real problem within today's society and need to be addressed."
Extras
Admission is $5, and proceeds will benefit RAINN, the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the United States.
"I remember seeing a video with Tori Amos talking about RAINN and had read that she has done concerts with proceeds going to RAINN," Whitsel said. "So, I came up with Rock For RAINN and started scouting out the bands and asking them to come out for the cause."
Other bands donating their time to the 3 p.m. event include Luxury Pushers, Cho Pow Socialite, Freak the Mighty, Atomic Johnny, The Revulvas and The Sics.
