DAYTON — Jon McLaughlin will enchant his way onto the stage at The Greene on Wednesday, June 4.

The Oscar-nominated artist caught the attention of music critics and female teens when he made his silver screen debut in "Enchanted" last summer. He performed a song onscreen for the Disney romantic comedy staring Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams, and later during the Academy Awards in February.

With his first major label album, "Indiana," under his belt and a second album in the works with Island Records, slated to be released this fall, McLaughlin's performance is promising to be a crowd-pleaser. The release of his new single, "Beating My Heart," will debut on radio stations Monday, June 2, days before his performance at The Greene.

"We are excited for him come to The Greene and to have this free for the public," Kelli Kooken, The Greene's director of marketing, said. "We really try to pick an artist that is an up and coming and family friendly performer. Jon McLaughlin fits right in that category."

McLaughlin toured with singing sensations Kelly Clarkson last fall and Sara Bareilles last summer to promote his album, titled in tribute to his hometown of Anderson, Ind.

"There are songs about relationships, girls, faith, friends, family, and there are even some songs about the music industry," he said about his album.

The singer-songwriter and pianist grew up in a house full of musical talent. His father, a bass player, enrolled McLaughlin in piano lessons at age 4.

While attending Anderson University School of Music, he recorded his self-titled debut album under the university's record label, Orangehaus. The 25-year-old has been touring ever since.

The Indiana heartthrob will take the stage at 8 p.m. Northmont, a local band, kicks off the concert at 6 p.m. followed by the Indianapolis acoustic rock band Red Moon at 7 p.m.
